Sorry. I got a little carried away.

Emotions left unchecked can be a sure sign of an unhealthy person. However…emotions channeled correctly can be incredible assets in the Kingdom of God. The Bible is full of passionate people; they are the ones who participated in the advancement of God’s Message. Scattered here and there you will find incredible accounts of passionate people who loved God, loved His people and loved life.

I think of David and his passion for the things of the Lord that drove him to kill a Philistine giant that dared to insult the living God. I think of Jeremiah who said that God’s word was like “fire shut up in his bones.” He HAD to speak of the things of the Lord. He couldn’t help it. And I think of Jesus. You see, while Christ was tearing through the temple, turning over tables and yelling at those who had “turned His Father’s house into a den of thieves,” his disciples remembered this saying “zeal for your House has consumed me.” (John 2:17 and Psalm 69:9) Some translations read has “eaten me up.” Emotionally speaking, what’s eating you? Is it Kingdom building or life destroying?? getabsorbed…n

I think one of the greatest reasons there aren’t more Christians in the world is because there aren’t more Christians in the world.

There…I said it.  Probably opening my own can of worms…yippee

I mean seriously.  Where are the people that are so done being absorbed in “self” and ridiculous church religiosity that they have decided to commit to the cause of Christ who, for the joy set before Him endured the cross?  As Dietrich Bonhoeffer said in Cost of Discipleship, “When Christ calls a man, He bids him come and die.”  What happened to all that?

Does anyone spend time alone with their Creator? Does anybody read the Bible anymore?  Does anyone really have a clue of how we should live let alone the audacity to teach it to somebody else…
However…

Read this quote today from John Wesley:  “Give me a hundred men who hate nothing but sin and love God with all their hearts and I will shake the world for Christ.”
