I just spent a few days around the area of southern Indiana where I grew up. Â My folks were so kind as to take our family to one of those Journey to Bethlehem type deals; you know where you walk outside at night, they tell the story of Jesus birth and you interact a bit with live actors and animals.Throw a little hot chocolate and yelling Roman soldiers in the mix and it’s pretty entertaining. Â Especially for my kids who have been acting it out for 3 days now:) Â If you’re in southern Indiana you oughta check it out.
I walked away grateful that this church knew it’s niche. Â What they were doing probably wouldn’t fly in Indianapolis, where the Broadway production of The Lion King is in it’s 3rd week nor would most of my cosmopolitan methodologies work in southern Indiana. Â But these guys weren’t trying to be somebody they were never designed to be. Â They were a rural, farm community church and they seemed to to a great job of impacting their community with the love of Christ. Â I loved the salvation wrap at the last stop on our nocturnal journey. Â Simple explanation delivered with great compassion by an accessible pastor.
Do you know your niche? Â If you don’t, chances are your expending of ton of emotional and physical energy trying to be somebody your not. Â Look, the Kingdom is big enough for all of us. Â Embrace the personality God has given you and determine how best to use that personality to share the Hope of Christ…u b u…getabsorbed…n
