Attractively Creative

Creativity “attracts” (yeah I know we’re not supposed to use that word…whoops) creativity, weaving together  a beautiful expression of the mission of the church and an accessible way to unveil facets of God’s character.    City Community Church is ridiculously blessed with oodles of creative talent.  Seriously.  Songwriters, theater majors, graphic designers (God send us video producers…yes that was a cheap plug:) fashion folks…the list goes on. It’s rare to see so much amazing ability crammed into a church plant that’s only 13 weeks old.  Makes me giddy with excitement and  tremble in wonder about what God is up to in Indianapolis…. Â
I love listening to a new song that engages me to interact with God on a totally different level. Â I love seeing a dramatic sketch that challenges my often tightly held (and inaccurate) perceptions. Â I love a painting that gives my thousand words a rest as I gaze into it’s purpose and meaning. Â I love a message that draws me into the tension of a creative moment. Â I appreciate creativity that draws me closer to my Creator and gives me a glimpse into the unfathomable depth of His being. Â
Traditionalism kills creativity. Â Safety kills creativity. Â Religiosity kills creativity. Â Insecurity kills creativity. Â Jealousy kills creativity. Â Once you rid yourself of those mindsets and exit the man-made institutional church prisons that foster such ideas, you’ll unleash the creatively redemptive image that dwells inside of your heart and we’ll all grow from it. Â
Please. Â We need you to create…get to it! Â …getabsorbed…n

Goes right along with my devotions from this morning. I just started going through Genesis again and it amazes me at the creativity our God has. Thanks for the reminder! :)
Bless you for sharing. Needed to hear someone else say it.
Dear Nathan:
I wanted to share this poem with you and all your readers. Since my car accident I haven’t been to church or really been able much to even get on my computer to stay in touch but I can say that I have stayed in touch with what the Holy Spirit is speaking to me. I think it is so cool to have read your blog and see how HE speaks to HIS children about the same things.
One morning I woke up and sat up in bed and just looked out the window. All of the sudden this just started flooding my mind. I got a pen and wrote it down. Incidentally, two days before, I “heard” in my spirit the word “METAMORPHOSIS”
consequently, the name of the poem.
METAMORPHOSIS
The winds of change are blowing.
Softly ravaging my eternal being.
It’s uninterruptible force was, and is;
before the foundation of this old world.
He sees me when I’m sleeping.
His voice is ever speaking.
“See” my soul,
Open your eyes.
It’s time for change.
Again and again.
Always time,
for time is always.
Never ending, never sleeping.
His grace is sufficient for thee.
You can’t stop change.
Change never stops.
Sprinkling like water…
Over my mind,
Over my soul,
Over my spirit.
Refuse to believe,
and “SEE” the change anyway.
Question the timing,
and “SEE” the time pass.
From “here” until “now” is irrevokable.
It happened, it once was, and it ever will be,
yet, never be again.
Change is something you cannot see.
And all the while…
He is, He was and He will be…
Ever the same, as change occurs.
Ever the same, He remains.
Only ONE constant.
Only ONE true.
I believe in Jesus. Do you?

So great to know that God is moving in the city. Of course He is always moving but it is cool when He shares His thoughts with us and moves us to join Him. My heart is so encouraged to see young people standing up for the truth and loving people into the Kingdom. we don’t need any more religion. We do need reality – I think my generation has got largely swallowed up by the cares of the world. Jesus overcame the world s o we don’t have to be overcome by it. Keep you focus on Him and you will see Him work in your midst. I will follow with interest.
